Melina Malone

If Amy Winehouse were alive today, we like to think that she would sound a little something like Melina Malone  - UptoHear

Tipped as 'one of the best voices in Ireland' by GoldenPlec in 2021, Dublin born Irish-Greek R&B artist Melina Malone has only gone from strength to strength since the release of her debut LP ‘Aphrodite’ in October. Fresh off the back of a buzzy festival season, Melina has performed at Ireland's official music industry showcase Ireland Music Week, took part in Hotpress’ 2023 Young & Emerging series, was chosen as a Guinness Live & Rising artist, and had two massive support slots back to back opening for Macy Gray in Dublin and Morcheeba at a sold-out Cork opera house, the hype for Melina doesn’t seem to be slowing down in 2024.

Taking influence from all things Neo Soul, from Erykah Badu & Jill Scott, to their more contemporary counterparts Amber Mark, NAO & RAYE, Melina Malone’s ‘Aphrodite’ is a powerful debut with heavy nods the aforementioned Soul trailblazers, while also blending flavors of Bossa Nova & 90’s R&B.

Album singles ‘Lovers Sunday’, Tru Luv’ & ‘Naive’ have garnered support from the likes of RTE 2FM, RTE Radio 1, BBC1xtra, Today FM, BBC Introducing, Global Soul Radio, Nialler9, Goldenplec, IMRO, Noctis Magazine, Ones to Watch, and more, plus Spotify Editorial playlist slots on ’New Music Friday UK’,  ‘A Breath Of Fresh Eire’, ‘Fresh Finds UK & Ire’, and ‘LED Lights.’

While shades of Winehouse and Badu are present, Malone carves her own identity, not only through her songwriting, but with her powerful and controlled vocals…and has undeniably raised the benchmark for Irish R&B….9/10” - Hotpress, ‘Aphrodite’ album review
